100 Aker Wood Visitor Centre

Our ever changing Woodland Walk has been a real success with our visitors. We have introduced Peacocks, Wallabies, Reindeer, Rheas, Chinese Silkies, Hens, Guinea Fowl, Guinea Pigs and Rabbits. Mystic our resident Blue and Gold Macaw is also a great attraction for the kids. Within the Woodland Walk we have a bouncy castle that is regularly inflated (weather permitting), lots of playhouses including a fabulous castle, rubber tree swings and a childrens play area.

We are very child and animal friendly here at 100 Aker Wood but we do have some rules which have to be adhered to. You can download a copy of our ‘Children and Animal Guidelines’ booklet here.

There is also a picnic area where you can drink your coffee and eat your food which has been bought on the premises.

The Woodland Walk gets transformed for various events throughout the year. Please see our events heading for details.

Special days out can be arranged for schools, nurseries and groups, where talks can be given on our animals.

We proudly brew Starbucks Coffee in our Koffee Kabin and are the only place in the Scottish Borders where you can get a cup of the worlds most popular coffee.

We offer a delicious selection of homemade scones, traybakes, cream cakes and desserts. Also our selection of scrumptious paninis, sandwiches and rolls are second to none.

This is probably the best kept secret in Melrose, one of the finest garden centres in the Scottish Borders with a huge selection of the highest quality plants and sundries at the most competitive prices.

Being a totally independent Garden Centre we are able to source products from a vast array of quality suppliers and offer them to you at very competitive prices.

Within the Garden Centre we have a Fencing, Decking and Landscape enquiry service which is open 7 days a week. We also have the largest display of sheds and summerhouses within the Scottish Borders. Timber garages and stables are also manufactured by our joiners on site to suit your own specification. Dog kennels, Tool Stores, Aviaries and Rabbit Hutches are all readily available.

We have a fantastic range of kids playhouses on display including Castles, Wendy Houses and even two storey Timber Lodges.
